Ipswich Family Dental Practice

Ipswich Family dental was started by Dr Robert Steele in 1969 when he commenced practice in Nicholas street in the centre of Ipswich City. From the start our team as strived to give the best possible care to our patients and has always been at the forefront as far as innovative and new techniques were concerned. The surgery grew rapidly with Dr John Steele joining Robert in Ipswich and the establishment of a surgery at Brassall.

In 1986, to meet the needs of our ever growing practice and to allow a better service to our patients, we relocated into a purpose built Medical/Dental Clinic at 16 South Street Ipswich, called ANTENOR HOUSE. Dr Geoff Busch also joined the group that year as a new Partner, after having gained valuable experience in rural and remote areas of Queensland.

1989 saw the relocation of our Brassall surgery into another purpose built facility in Brassall Clinic located at 19 Albion Street Brassall. This gave the group 2 first class facilities servicing both sides of the Ipswich area. A dental laboratory was established at the Brassall site so we could better serve the needs of our patients and this continues today in a separate area of Antenor House giving is instant access to the lab, something not usually enjoyed by a dental practice.

Another Chapter for the group started with the retirement of Dr Robert Steele in 1999, but we were fortunate to have Dr Andrew Price who brings a wealth of experience, which he has gained both here and overseas replace Robert and continue the tradition of the group.

After a period of time working for the group Dr Warwick Hawthorne became a partner in 2002. He came to us after working for the RAAF for 10 years, where he is a highly regarded Dental Specialist, having gained many qualifications including his masters degree and is registered as a Crown and Bridge specialist. He is the only local full time specialist in Private practice. This is a great addition to the services we provide.

2004 started with another change, with Dr John Steele retiring and Dr Tony Brown, who also had worked for the group, becoming a partner. Tony also brings a wealth of experience and additional skills to the practice. Tony also spent time in the RAAF where he gained his qualifications in Sedation, allowing this very handy procedure to be performed in our surgery which is a registered facility for this procedure. Tony is one of only a few in the Brisbane area and is often in demand to provide the service to other practices as far away as the Gold Coast.

We are now one of the few groups in Queensland who can offer such a wide range of procedures in house' by a group practice, where the focus is on the patient and their complete dental needs. Today, we have 4 partners and 2 employed Dentists who all work at both our Ipswich and Brassall Surgeries.
